S&A Law Offices advised AI Assets Holding Limited (AIAHL) on the successful sale and transfer of the iconic Air India Building at Nariman Point, Mumbai, to the Government of Maharashtra (through the Governor of Maharashtra).

The transaction was completed for total consideration of INR 1,601 crores.

This deal is widely regarded as one of the most substantial government acquisitions of real estate in recent years.

It also represents an important step in the broader process of monetising and divesting non-core assets of the erstwhile national carrier, following their transfer to AIAHL.

The transaction holds added relevance in the context of Air India’s disinvestment one of the most significant and closely examined privatisation initiatives undertaken by the Government of India. As the designated entity responsible for the administration and realisation of Air India’s remaining assets, AIAHL has been instrumental in driving this mandate.

The transfer of the Air India Building to the Government of Maharashtra is a key milestone in that continuing programme.

The S&A team was led by Mr. Kumar Shashwat Singh Sawno (Partner), with Mr. Vishal Singh (Principal Associate) and Mr. Rishabh Chauhan (Principal Associate) providing support.
