DSK Legal represented Roy Kapur Productions Private Limited before the Bombay High Court in a copyright dispute filed by Ms. Tanuja Bhagat alleging infringement over the use of the title “Matka King” for an upcoming web-series release.

DSK Legal appeared for Roy Kapur Productions Private Limited in a commercial intellectual property dispute filed before the Bombay High Court by Ms. Tanuja Bhagat. She claimed that the production house had infringed her copyright by using the title “Matka King” for an upcoming web-series.

The series is produced by Roy Kapur Productions and is scheduled to premiere on 17 April 2026 on Prime Video.

According to the petition, Ms. Bhagat argued that the title “Matka King” belonged to her and its use in the web-series amounted to copyright infringement. She sought relief from the Court through a commercial IP suit along with an interim application.

Roy Kapur Productions opposed the claims, and the matter came up for hearing before the Bombay High Court.

DSK Legal represented the production house through its team comprising Mr. Parag Khandhar (Partner), Ms. Chandrima Mitra (Partner), Ms. Bhakti Parekh (Principal Associate), Ms. Anaheeta Verma (Senior Associate), and Mr. Prateek Gupta (Senior Associate).

In addition, Senior Counsel Dr. Birendra Saraf appeared as External Counsel on behalf of DSK Legal during the proceedings.
