The Supreme Court has reconstituted its Gender Sensitisation & Internal Complaints Committee with Justice B.V. Nagarathna continuing as chairperson. An office order to this effect was issued on Tuesday, and it will come into effect from May 28.

The Supreme Court of India has issued an Office Order dated 26 May 2026 announcing the re-constitution of the Supreme Court Gender Sensitisation and Internal Complaints Committee (GSICC), which will come into effect from 28 May 2026.
The decision has been taken under Clause 4(2) of the Gender Sensitisation & Sexual Harassment of Women at the Supreme Court of India (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Regulations, 2013 and other enabling provisions.
The reconstituted committee aims to strengthen the institutional mechanism for prevention, prohibition, and redressal of sexual harassment complaints within the Supreme Court premises and ensure a safer and more sensitive workplace environment.
As per the official notification issued by the Admn. General Branch (File No. A-G-1/11/1/2026-SCA(G)), Hon’ble the Chief Justice of India has approved the new composition of the committee.
The committee will be chaired by Hon’ble Mrs. Justice B.V. Nagarathna B.V. Nagarathna. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Nongmeikapam Kotiswar Singh Nongmeikapam Kotiswar Singh has been appointed as a member of the committee.
From the administrative side, Ms. Kaveri, Registrar (J), has been appointed as the Member Secretary.
The committee also includes senior members from the legal fraternity. Dr. Menaka Guruswamy, Senior Advocate, and Ms. Nina Gupta, Advocate, have been nominated as members representing the Senior SCBA category. Ms. Sakshi Banga, Advocate, will represent the Supreme Court Bar Association, while Ms. Prabha Swami, Advocate-on-Record, will represent the Supreme Court AOR Association.
In addition, Mrs. Sushma Rawat has been included as a representative of the Supreme Court Bar Clerks Association.
The Hon’ble Chief Justice of India has also nominated three independent members: Ms. Sneh Sharma, Founder of Vividhta Consulting; Ms. Liz Mathew, Senior Advocate; and Ms. Maheravish Rein, Advocate.
According to the Office Order signed by Registrar (J) Kuntal Sharma Pathak, the reconstituted committee reflects a balanced representation of judges, court officials, senior advocates, and members from different segments of the Supreme Court legal ecosystem.
The Gender Sensitisation and Internal Complaints Committee plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with workplace safety norms, addressing complaints of sexual harassment, and maintaining a dignified professional environment within the apex court.
With the new structure coming into effect from 28 May 2026, the Supreme Court has reinforced its commitment towards gender sensitivity, institutional accountability, and workplace safety for all stakeholders associated with the justice system.
