The Delhi High Court declined to order a fresh election for the Bar Council of Delhi, rejecting pleas seeking repolling over alleged electoral irregularities. The decision brings temporary closure to a significant legal dispute concerning the conduct, fairness, and administration of the BCD elections.
Newly sworn-in Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari, stressed the vital role of lawyers in delivering justice, remarking, “The Bench and the Bar are often described as two wheels of the same chariot… A judge is only as good as the assistance they receive from the Bar.”
The Delhi High Court Chief Justice praised Chief Justice of India Surya Kant’s journey from a district court lawyer to the top judicial post, calling it a shining example of merit over privilege. The Kerala High Court held a full court reference to honour retiring Chief Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar, concluding his three-decade judicial career and tenure as the Court’s 39th Chief Justice. In his farewell, Justice Jamdar recalled his Kerala experience as professionally fulfilling and personally enriching.
