The Karnataka High Court sought a response from the SIT on a bail plea filed by former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna. The case concerns allegations that he coerced a woman into appearing nude during video calls in exchange for securing school admission for her son.

The Karnataka High Court called for a response from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) regarding a bail petition filed by former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna.

The petition relates to allegations that he coerced a woman into appearing nude during video calls.

A single-judge Bench presided over by Justice M. Nagaprasanna issued notice to the SIT and directed it to submit its statement of objections to the bail application.

Special Public Prosecutor B. N. Jagadeesh appeared for the State and accepted notice on behalf of the SIT. The case has been scheduled for further hearing on July 3.

The matter stems from allegations that Revanna compelled the complainant to appear nude during video calls after she approached him in 2019 seeking help for her son’s admission to a Kendriya Vidyalaya under the Member of Parliament quota.

As per the prosecution, Revanna obtained the complainant’s mobile number and subsequently contacted her multiple times through video calls between 2019 and 2021.

It is alleged that he repeatedly demanded that she remove her clothes and appear nude on camera. The prosecution also states that Revanna recorded the video calls and took photographs without the complainant’s consent, and later threatened to circulate the material to force her to continue the interactions.

Police registered an FIR against Revanna under Sections 354A (sexual harassment), 354B (assault or use of criminal force with intent to disrobe), 354D (stalking) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC, in addition to Sections 66E and 67 of the Information Technology Act.

Revanna is currently serving a life sentence after his conviction by a special court in Bengaluru in August 2025 in a separate case involving the rape of a domestic worker and the alleged recording of sexual assaults.

Apart from the present proceedings, three additional criminal trials concerning allegations of rape and other sexual offences against him are reported to be pending.
