Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has joined hands with Meta to establish an artificial intelligence (AI) data centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
As per the arrangement, Reliance will develop a 168-megawatt data centre, which Meta will lease to meet its AI and computing needs.
Khaitan & Co advised Reliance on the deal. The transaction team was led by partners Atman Desai, Mudit Shah, and Divya Chaturvedi, with support from Hetashri Khajanchi (Senior Associate), Vivan Jhaveri (Associate), and Vidhi Patel (Associate).
In a LinkedIn post, Desai noted that Khaitan & Co had advised and worked closely with the RIL team on the “landmark, complex data center transaction.”
RIL and Meta recently announced their partnership to set up an AI-enabled data centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The centre is expected to bolster Meta’s AI infrastructure requirements in India.
The agreement arrives as global and Indian markets see growing demand for large-scale data centre capacity, fuelled by artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and digital services.
