NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court dismissed a plea filed by a man who claimed that a ‘machine‘ was being used to control his brain. The petitioner, a teacher, had requested the Court to order the deactivation of this alleged ‘machine.’
Describing the petition as a ‘bizarre’ request, a Bench of Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah declined to entertain the plea.
In its November 8 order, the Court remarked, “This is the bizarre prayer(s) made by the petitioner, who alleges that his brain is being controlled by some machine operated by certain individuals. We see no reason or scope to interfere in this matter. Hence, the petition is dismissed.”
Earlier, the appellant had approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court with similar claims, alleging that a ‘human brain reading machine’ obtained from the Central Forensic Scientific Laboratory, Hyderabad, was being used to control his brain.

The laboratory countered this claim, stating that the appellant had never been examined, and thus, the question of deactivating any machine did not arise. The High Court dismissed the petition.
Dissatisfied with this outcome, the appellant appealed to the Supreme Court. On September 27, the Court decided not to dismiss the plea immediately, instead directing the Supreme Court Legal Services Committee (SCLSC) to interact with the petitioner in his native language to better understand his grievances.
After consulting the SCLSC, which reported that the petitioner wanted the Court to instruct the Visakhapatnam office of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to deactivate the machine, the Court determined there was no basis to intervene with the High Court’s ruling and proceeded to dismiss the plea.
The appellant was represented by advocates Dr. Vipin Gupta, Nandani Gupta, Suryansh Gupta, and Krishna Kumar.
