A woman allegedly entered the Varanasi District Judge’s courtroom, occupied the judge’s chair, and refused to leave. The unusual incident created chaos among lawyers, leading to a police response after she reportedly acted like a presiding judge.

A bizarre and chaotic incident unfolded in the Varanasi District Judge’s court after an unauthorized woman bypassed security, sat in the judge’s official chair, and refused to leave it. The unexpected intrusion sparked a tense standoff inside the courtroom, attracting a crowd of legal professionals and prompting an immediate police response.

The disruption began when the woman entered the courtroom and sat directly behind the judge’s bench. When court staff noticed someone in the highly restricted seat, they asked her to step down. However, the woman ignored the initial requests and continued to refuse to vacate the chair, leading to a growing commotion.

According to eyewitness accounts, the woman allegedly first inquired with court staff about the judge’s arrival time before walking up to the dais and sitting in the judge’s chair.

After taking the seat, she reportedly began behaving as though she was conducting court proceedings. Witnesses alleged that she struck the desk and repeatedly shouted,

“Order, Order!… Today, I am the District Judge. Present the witnesses and evidence before me!”

As the situation escalated and voices rose, advocates, other court staff, and police personnel on duty rushed into the courtroom to manage the disturbance. Despite repeated warnings and appeals from those gathered to remove herself from the chair, the woman reportedly argued with court officials, further intensifying the standoff.

As the standoff continued, the security team at the court complex called in female police officers to handle the situation. The women cops managed to remove the woman from the judge’s chair and escorted her out of the courtroom. She was then taken into custody by the Cantt police station for further questioning.

After an investigation, authorities said the woman is a resident of the Shivpur area and is mentally unstable. Speaking about the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for the Varuna Zone, Pramod Kumar, confirmed that Cantt police officers safely escorted the woman back to her home following questioning.

Local officials said the security incident occurred during a temporary lull in that particular courtroom’s daily schedule. They noted that the District Judge was on leave on Friday, and regular proceedings had been shifted to another courtroom within the complex, which may have left the bench unattended for a period before the woman entered.
