A complaint has been filed in the Kota Consumer Court against Bollywood actor Salman Khan over his pan masala advertisement, alleging that as a role model, he should not promote such products that send a wrong message to the youth.

Bollywood actor Salman Khan is facing legal issues following a complaint regarding a pan masala advertisement.

Inder Mohan Singh Honey, a BJP leader and advocate at the Rajasthan High Court, has filed a complaint with the Kota Consumer Court, claiming that the advertisement misleads consumers through surrogate promotion.

In response to the complaint, the court has issued notices to both Salman Khan and the brand’s manufacturers, requiring their official replies.

The next court hearing is scheduled for November 27.

Honey contended that the Rajshree Pan Masala advertisement misleadingly promotes saffron and cardamom flavors, which are unlikely to be present in a product priced at just Rs.5. He has called on celebrities to refrain from influencing young people with deceptive promotions.

According to the petition, the advertisement’s claims that the elaichi and pan masala products are “saffron-infused” are unrealistic, given that saffron costs nearly Rs.4 lakh per kilogram.

Honey also expressed concerns that such advertisements could encourage youth to consume pan masala, which he referred to as harmful.

The petitioner told media,

“Salman Khan is a role model for many people. We have filed a complaint against it in the Kota Consumer Court, and notices have been issued for a hearing. Celebrities or film stars in other countries don’t even promote cold drinks, but they are promoting tobacco and pan masala. I urge them not to spread the wrong message to the youth, as pan masala is one of the leading causes of mouth cancer,”

The Kota Consumer Court is awaiting responses from both Salman Khan and the manufacturing company, with the next hearing set for November 27.
