Judicial Appointments Announced For Multiple High Courts: Centre

Article 217 of the Constitution: It states that the Judge of a High Court shall be appointed by the President in consultation with the Chief Justice of India (CJI), the Governor of the State. In the case of appointment of a Judge other than the Chief Justice, the Chief Justice of the High Court is consulted.

NEW DELHI: The President Droupadi Murmu has officially approved the appointment of several judges across different High Courts in the country.

key appointments are:

  1. Justice G.S. Sandhawalia
    Formerly a Judge at the Punjab & Haryana High Court, Justice Sandhawalia has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
  2. Justice Narendar G.
    A sitting Judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, Justice Narendar G. has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court.
  3. Justice Ramachandra Dattatray Huddar
    Serving as an Additional Judge at the Karnataka High Court, Justice Huddar has been elevated to the position of a Permanent Judge of the same court.
  4. Justice Venkatesh Naik Thavaryanaik
    Another Additional Judge from the Karnataka High Court, Justice Thavaryanaik has been appointed as a Permanent Judge of the court.
  5. Justice Vijaykumar Adagouda Patil
    Also an Additional Judge at the Karnataka High Court, Justice Patil has been elevated to a Permanent Judge of the court.
  6. Justice Rajesh Rai Kallangala
    Currently an Additional Judge at the Karnataka High Court, Justice Kallangala will assume the position of a Permanent Judge on or after February 1, 2025, following his formal assumption of office.
  7. Ms. Justice Shalinder Kaur
    Serving as an Additional Judge at the Delhi High Court, Ms. Justice Kaur has been appointed as a Permanent Judge of the court.
  8. Justice Ravinder Dudeja
    Justice Dudeja, who has been serving as an Additional Judge at the Delhi High Court, has now been appointed as a Permanent Judge of the same court.
