Jabalpur: A writ of mandamus directing WhatsApp LLC to restore his primary and secondary accounts is what the President of the Madhya Pradesh High Court Bar Association has asked the High Court for, saying both were blocked without resolution of his complaints [Mrigendra Singh v. Union of India].
The writ petition (W.P. No. 42065 of 2026) is listed before Justice Vishal Mishra on October 7, 2026. No order has been passed on its merits, and what follows is the petitioner’s case, not a finding.
What he is asking for
The prayer is for a writ of mandamus directing WhatsApp to restore full access to both accounts immediately, with interim relief while the petition is pending. WhatsApp’s response, if any, is not yet on record.
His account of events
Professional communication runs on WhatsApp for him, the petitioner states. According to the plea, he “relies on the WhatsApp account for instant communication” on high-stakes litigation, using it to coordinate court filings, receive briefing notes, and stay in touch with fellow advocates and client representatives.
He says an in-app review request filed on August 23, 2026 brought no resolution. His secondary account was then suspended as well, and on September 2, 2026 he served a formal notice demanding restoration and technical disclosure.
