New Delhi: Granting an ex parte interim injunction, the Delhi High Court has restrained nine rogue websites from hosting or streaming the film Drishyam: The Conclusion without authorisation, and has directed domain name registrars to suspend or block the infringing domain names [Digital18 Media Private Limited v. ssrmovies.style and Others].
Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav passed the order on October 1, 2026, in a suit by the film’s producer, Digital18 Media Private Limited, which sought to protect its copyright ahead of the October 2, 2026 release. The order is interim and ex parte, and the defendants have not yet been heard.
A 72-hour clock for registrars
Defendants 12 to 29, the registrars, must immediately suspend, block, disable and deactivate the domain names within 72 hours. Government authorities were directed to ensure compliance, and the producer was permitted to report further infringing websites to domain registrars and the relevant authorities.
The restraint itself
The operative direction on the interim application reads:
Defendant nos. 1 to 9 or any person acting on their behalf are restrained from communicating, hosting, streaming, and/or making available for viewing and downloading, without authorization, on their websites
What the producer alleged
Digital18 alleged that the defendant websites host and stream the film without authorisation, infringing its exclusive copyright. To press for swift relief before release, it also pointed to earlier piracy of other films, Jolly LLB 3 among them.
Dates ahead, and what the order is
The suit is next listed on December 3, 2026, and the matter also goes before the Joint Registrar on October 27, 2026.
The order fits the Delhi High Court’s now familiar approach of granting pre-release injunctions against rogue websites and enlisting domain registrars and intermediaries to disable access quickly. As an ex parte interim order, it remains open to the defendants to seek its variation once they are heard.
