Arvind Kejriwal appeared before the Delhi High Court to argue his plea seeking recusal of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma in the excise policy case. The court is also hearing the Central Bureau of Investigation plea challenging his discharge in the Delhi excise policy matter.

Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal appeared before the Delhi High Court on Monday in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. Kejriwal was accompanied by his wife Sunita Kejriwal when he arrived at the court. The High Court is currently hearing a plea filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) challenging the discharge of Kejriwal and other accused persons in the excise policy case.
In this matter, Arvind Kejriwal has filed an application before the Delhi High Court seeking the recusal of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma. Through this application, Kejriwal has requested that Justice Sharma should not hear the case. This application has become an important development in the ongoing excise policy case proceedings.
Background
Arvind Kejriwal had earlier been acquitted by a trial court in a case related to alleged non-compliance with summons issued during the investigation of the Delhi liquor policy case. The trial court, in its order dated January 22, had acquitted Kejriwal, observing that the Enforcement Directorate failed to prove that Kejriwal had deliberately disobeyed the summons issued to him during the investigation.

However, the Enforcement Directorate later challenged this trial court order before the Delhi High Court on March 30. The agency filed a petition against the acquittal order, which is now being heard by the High Court along with the CBI’s plea challenging the discharge of Kejriwal and other accused in the excise policy case.
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party stated that Arvind Kejriwal would appear and argue in person before the Delhi High Court in the matter related to the alleged excise policy scam. Along with Kejriwal, several other accused persons have also filed an application seeking the recusal of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma from hearing the case.
The case is significant as it relates to the alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy and the legal proceedings arising out of the investigation conducted by central agencies, including the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate. The Delhi High Court is now hearing the matter and will decide on the pleas filed by the investigating agencies as well as the recusal application filed by Kejriwal and other accused.
The proceedings in the Delhi High Court are being closely watched as the case involves a senior political leader and raises important legal questions regarding summons compliance, acquittal orders, and judicial recusal. The outcome of the case will play an important role in the ongoing legal battle related to the Delhi excise policy matter.
