The court held that the CBI can file a supplementary chargesheet even during trial, that the investigation against the 13 chargesheeted accused is complete, and that the Public Examinations Act requires the trial to proceed expeditiously.
The Calcutta High Court has held that the disability percentage certified on a candidate’s Unique Disability ID (UDID) card cannot be reassessed by the NEET Medical Assessment Board or the Appellate Authority for deciding eligibility under the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities quota. The Board’s role, the Court held, is to assess whether the candidate is functionally capable of pursuing the MBBS course, not to redetermine the quantum of disability already certified under the disability-rights law.
The Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to an adult NEET-UG candidate seeking admission under the NRI quota, staying, in her case, a Medical Counselling Committee requirement that a candidate produce a guardianship certificate under the Guardians and Wards Act, 1890 proving that her NRI sponsor is her legal guardian. The Court held that, prima facie, the Guardians and Wards Act applies only to minors, and that a candidate who has crossed 18 need not obtain such a certificate. The matter is listed for October 12.

The court upheld the Delhi High Court’s decision, rejecting claims of arbitrariness, and stated that altering results would disrupt admissions. Today, On 21st October, Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud announced a two-week extension for an expert panel reviewing NEET-UG reforms.
