The Supreme Court of India appointed former Chief Justice D. Y. Chandrachud as mediator in the high-profile Sona Group family trust dispute involving late businessman Sunjay Kapur’s estate. A Bench comprising Justices J. B. Pardiwala and Ujjal Bhuyan directed all parties to pursue an amicable settlement through mediation.
The Supreme Court has sought actor Karisma Kapoor’s response on a plea filed by Priya Kapur seeking access to divorce-related records between Karisma and her late husband Sunjay Kapur. The documents have been sought for use in an ongoing succession dispute over Sunjay Kapur’s estate pending before the Delhi High Court.
Sunjay Kapur’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, have moved court seeking criminal action against Priya Kapur, alleging fabrication of their father’s will, sources said. They claim serious loopholes in the digital trail and have sought seizure of devices, which could turn the inheritance dispute into a criminal case.
