A man died in Bijnor District Jail two days after the Allahabad High Court had granted him bail, and, according to his family, a day after his wife informed the jail of the bail order and he expressed fear for his life. Calling a death in custody with no satisfactory explanation a matter of serious concern, a Division Bench has directed the Director General of UP Prisons to explain, on affidavit, the circumstances of the death.
