Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma refused to step aside from the excise policy case, asserting her duty and rejecting allegations of bias. She warned that allowing such pleas without grounds would damage the credibility of the judiciary.

The Allahabad High Court strongly criticised a man for making false, defamatory allegations against his wife and daughters, terming it abuse of process. The court held the plea stemmed from a domestic dispute and condemned such misuse.
The Supreme Court observed that violence, greed, desire, and anger have become the main reasons behind rising litigation in India. Justice Dipankar Datta said courts cannot control these human traits through judicial orders, a view agreed with by the Chief Justice of India.
