On Friday (1st March): The Supreme Court has intervened to direct the Malabar Devaswom Board’s attempt to assume control of Kapliangad Devi Temple. This directive comes amidst legal disputes surrounding the temple’s ownership and authority.

New Delhi: On Friday (1st March): The Supreme Court intervened to direct the Malabar Devaswom Board’s efforts to acquire the Kapliangad Devi Temple located in Thrissur Vadakkedakad temporarily. The apex court has suspended the Malabar Devaswom Board’s directive appointing an executive officer to oversee the temple’s affairs.

The Malabar Devaswom Board’s move faced opposition from both the Malabar Devas and the Managing Trustee of the Kupiyangad Devi Temple, M. Divakaran, who jointly petitioned the Supreme Court.

Representing the managing trustee, Senior Advocate P.N. Ravindran argued that the Kapliangad Devi Temple maintains its status as a private temple. Advocate P.S. Sudhir further emphasized this stand during proceedings in the Supreme Court.

The matter concerning the temple’s ownership is currently under review in civil court proceedings. The legal representatives requested a temporary suspension of the High Court’s decision that favored the Malabar Devaswom Board’s authority.
