Leena Maria Paul sought bail citing tuberculosis, but the Supreme Court refused to intervene. SC said the Delhi High Court will decide her plea if needed after issuing its order.
New Delhi: Today, on June 11, the vacation bench of the Supreme Court of India has refused to grant bail to actress Leena Maria Paul in a financial fraud case linked to conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar.
Leena had filed a bail application, claiming that she was suffering from tuberculosis and needed urgent medical treatment.
However, the Supreme Court stated that it would not interfere in the matter as the Delhi High Court is already hearing her bail petition.

The bench added,
“if necessary, after the order is issued.” The court did not go into detailed arguments during the hearing.
Leena Maria Paul was arrested by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police in 2021 in connection with a massive financial fraud case involving Rs 200 crore.
The main accused in the case is Sukesh Chandrasekhar, a fraudster from Chennai, who had falsely introduced Leena as his secretary.
This is not the first time Leena and Sukesh have been involved in legal trouble. In May 2013, both were arrested in a separate case for embezzling Rs 19 crore from Canara Bank’s Ambattur branch in Chennai.
They were also accused of cheating a garment merchant of Rs 62.47 lakh in another case.
In another shocking allegation, they reportedly took Rs 50 crore from a group linked to Sasikala, claiming they could help the group retain the AIADMK party’s two-leaf election symbol during a time of political turmoil.
Leena also faced a life-threatening incident when members of underworld don Ravi Pujari’s gang allegedly opened fire at a beauty parlour she had opened in Kadavanthra, Kerala.
This attack reportedly took place after Sukesh was sent to Tihar Jail in Delhi.
Despite citing serious health issues in her bail plea, Leena did not receive any relief from the Supreme Court.
