Today, On 10th July, The NTA submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court regarding the NEET paper leak case. The document provides detailed information on the incident and outlines the measures taken to address the situation. It highlights the steps implemented to prevent future occurrences and ensure the integrity of the examination process.

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) submitted an affidavit to the Supreme Court concerning the NEET exam paper leak in Patna. The affidavit reveals that the perpetrators clandestinely acquired a copy of the exam paper, which was subsequently used for dishonest purposes.
The leaked paper solved, and the answers provided to the involved candidates. Despite this breach, the affidavit indicates that only a small number of candidates seem to have benefited from this illegal assistance.
The affidavit comes after the apex court on Monday asked the NTA to apprise it about the steps taken to identify the candidates who benefited from the paper leak, and file a status report and affidavit with all the details by 5 pm on July 10.
The apex court had also asked about the first incident of paper leak that took place, the manner in which the question papers leaked disseminated, and the time duration between the occurrence of the leak and the exam on May 5.
The NTA asserted that the malpractices by certain individuals at Godhra and a few centers in Patna did not compromise the overall integrity of the exam.
In its affidavit, the NTA revealed that upon discovering the malpractice incidents at these locations, it conducted an assessment of the performance of all candidates who appeared at the affected centers. This assessment aimed to determine if the malpractices had any significant impact that could have broader consequences.
The data analysis conducted by the NTA clearly shows that the alleged malpractices neither compromised the integrity of the entire exam nor provided any undue advantage to the students at the centers in Godhra and Patna, according to the affidavit.
The investigation, which initially handled by local law enforcement, has now been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a more thorough examination.
Several individuals have been arrested, including the ringleaders of the operation and some students who were found to have benefited from the malpractice.
As a result, the NTA withheld the results of the students involved and issued show-cause notices. Further disciplinary actions, such as suspending their candidacy, are also being considered.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) stated that an analysis of student performance at the concerned centers shows that their scores are not unusually high or significantly different from the national average of other centers across the country.
The NTA said in an affidavit,
“The data also indicates that students from these centers have not achieved marks that would qualify them for admission to top medical colleges,”.
On Monday, the Supreme Court acknowledged that the NEET-UG exam held on May 5 had been compromised due to a question paper leak.

A bench comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, confirmed the breach in the exam’s integrity, stating,
“It is an admitted fact that there is a leak, and the nature of the leak is something that we are determining “
Despite these controversies, the NTA remains firm in its stance that the exam results are valid and should not be annulled. The Supreme Court expected to continue hearing the case and consider all aspects before making a final decision.
