NEW DELHI: The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) has announced a modified schedule for January 22, aligning with the inauguration of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya. According to an official notice from the NCDRC, the administrative operations of the tribunal will commence from 2:30 PM on this significant day.
This decision follows a memorandum issued by the Ministry of Personnel Public Grievances and Pensions, which directed that Central government offices across India will remain closed until 2:30 PM on January 22. The memorandum reflects the national significance of the Ram Mandir inauguration, prompting adjustments in government functioning to accommodate this historic event.
Furthermore, the NCDRC notice clarified that for any matters scheduled on the day of the inauguration, adjournments will be necessary. The rescheduling of these cases will be notified in accordance with the instructions of the respective benches. This measure ensures that the legal proceedings and consumer disputes handled by the NCDRC are not unduly disrupted while acknowledging the importance of the Ram Mandir inauguration.

The NCDRC’s decision to observe a half-day is indicative of the broader national engagement with the inauguration event. It underscores the balancing act between maintaining regular administrative functions and honoring significant cultural and national events. The Ram Mandir inauguration, a momentous occasion in India’s cultural and religious landscape, has thus influenced the operational schedules of key government bodies, including the NCDRC.
