Today, On 10th July, The CBI arrested Rocky, the alleged mastermind behind the NEET-UG paper leak, from Patna. Rocky orchestrated the leak and hired solvers, including several MBBS students from Patna and Ranchi. These solvers arranged to take the exams on behalf of candidates.

Patna: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), On Thursday, apprehended the alleged mastermind behind the Bihar NEET-UG case in Patna.
Following his arrest, CBI officials conducted searches at various locations linked to him in both Patna and Kolkata, resulting in the discovery of several incriminating documents.

A local court granted the CBI a 10-day custody of the primary suspect for further interrogation. Sources reveal that Rakesh Ranjan, also known as Rocky, previously operated a hotel in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Rocky accused of leaking the NEET-UG question paper and sending it to an individual named Chintu, who then distributed the papers with answers to the students. Rocky the nephew of Sanjeev Mukhia, another suspect in the NEET paper leak case.
Additionally, Rocky allegedly arranged for solvers, including several MBBS students from Patna and Ranchi, to take the NEET-UG exams on behalf of others after the question papers leaked.
The main suspect’s arrest follows the apprehension of two others, including a candidate, in Patna two days prior. Among those arrested were Sunny, a NEET-UG aspirant from Nalanda, and Ranjit Kumar, the father of another candidate from Gaya.
In total, the CBI arrested nine individuals in connection with the Bihar NEET-UG paper leak case, and others in Gujarat’s Latur and Godhra, as well as in Dehradun, related to alleged conspiracies and manipulations.
The CBI took over the investigation after widespread protests by students concerning irregularities in the medical entrance exam. So far, the CBI registered six FIRs related to the case, with one from Bihar addressing the paper leaks and others from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra focusing on impersonation and cheating during the exam.

Rocky’s arrest marks the ninth in Bihar for the NEET-UG paper leak case, with additional arrests in other states, including Gujarat and Uttarakhand.
This paper leak caused significant controversy, especially after 67 students from Bihar obtained top rankings in the exam, leading to widespread allegations and political ramifications. The NEET-UG 2024 was conducted at 4,750 centers in 571 cities on May 5, with over 24 lakh candidates appearing for the exam. Following the results announcement on June 4, suspicions of irregularities prompted an in-depth investigation.
This development highlights the critical need for stringent measures to prevent future occurrences and maintain the integrity of competitive exams in India.
