The Supreme Court of India granted nine additional months to conclude the Sheena Bora murder trial after assessing the current status. It made clear that no further extension will be permitted and directed completion of proceedings promptly thereafter.
RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav has approached the Delhi High Court challenging the trial court’s decision to frame criminal charges in the alleged Railways land-for-jobs scam. The High Court has issued notice to the CBI and will hear the matter next on March 17.

The CBI told the Delhi High Court that Lalu Prasad Yadav had no official role or public duty in railway appointments during his tenure as Union Railway Minister. The agency argued that decisions were taken by General Managers, making prior sanction under the Prevention of Corruption Act unnecessary.

Today, On 6th January, The Supreme Court rejected Advocate Gautam Khaitan’s plea challenging the ED’s property attachment in the AgustaWestland case, stating “This practice has to stop” as it criticised attempts by wealthy accused persons to bypass the normal trial process.
