A Delhi judge granted bail to a man accused by his mother in a property dispute, adding a poignant couplet to his order. The poetic line highlighted emotional loss amid legal battles within families.
New Delhi: On July 20, a Delhi court recently granted bail to a man accused of forcibly entering and taking over his mother’s property. What made this case unusual, however, was the poetic touch added by the judge in his order.
Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Rohit Kumar, while granting bail to the accused, Nitin Soni, included a heartfelt couplet in his judgment that read:
“Milkiyat ki jang me naa jaane kitne afsane huye, Kuch hi apne the, woh bhi ab begane huye.”
The court was hearing a case filed by Indu Saini, the mother of the accused, who had lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at Prashant Vihar Police Station against her son Nitin and his wife.

In her complaint, she alleged that on July 12, while she was away attending court proceedings, her son broke the lock of her flat in Vandana Apartment and entered without her permission.
When she returned home with her daughter, she claimed to have found him already inside the house and abusing both of them from within the premises.
However, during the hearing on Friday, the court examined the CCTV footage related to the incident. Contrary to what was alleged in the FIR, the footage appeared to show a different version of events, which raised doubts about the claims made by the complainant.
After reviewing the evidence and listening to the arguments of both parties — the counsel for the accused and the public prosecutor — the court decided to grant bail to Nitin Soni.
JMFC Rohit Kumar, known for his literary flair, expressed the emotional complexity of family property disputes through poetic words in his order.
The couplet he included —
“Milkiyat ki jang me naa jaane kitne afsane huye, Kuch hi apne the, woh bhi ab begane huye” —
highlighted how bitter legal fights over ownership often lead to personal relationships turning sour, especially within families.
The judgment subtly reflected on the unfortunate nature of family members becoming estranged due to material conflicts, even though the legal process must continue based on facts and evidence.
In this case, although the mother alleged trespass and abuse, the court’s review of the CCTV footage suggested that the real picture might not match the complaint.
Thus, the court, after considering the CCTV footage, legal submissions, and the situation of the accused, granted bail to Nitin Soni, marking yet another instance where a legal battle within a family reaches the courtroom.
The poetic words of the judge serve as a reminder that sometimes the deepest wounds are not caused by strangers but by one’s own loved ones.
