A Patna court reserved its verdict on educator Khan Sir’s anticipatory bail plea in the coaching institute firing case. The matter arises from an alleged attack and vandalism at his institute, where security guards allegedly opened fire. The court will pronounce its decision on July 10.

A court in Patna on Wednesday reserved its decision on the anticipatory bail application filed by noted educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as ‘Khan Sir’, in connection with a firing incident that took place at his coaching institute earlier this year. The court is scheduled to pronounce its order on July 10.

The case arises from an incident in early June in which Khan Sir’s coaching institute was allegedly attacked and vandalised by a group of unidentified persons. During the disturbance, his security personnel allegedly opened fire, leading to the registration of a criminal case and subsequent legal proceedings.

The anticipatory bail plea came up for hearing before the Patna court, where counsel appearing for both the prosecution and the defence advanced their submissions. After hearing the arguments, the court reserved its verdict.

Speaking to reporters after the hearing, advocate Murari Tiwari, appearing for Khan Sir, said,

“The court heard the arguments from both sides today, and has reserved its order till the next hearing on July 10.”

The court is expected to decide whether Khan Sir should be granted anticipatory bail in connection with the case.

Counsel for the educator informed the media that the interim protection earlier granted by the court against any coercive action would continue until the reserved order is pronounced. According to the defence, Khan Sir will continue to enjoy protection from arrest or other coercive measures while the court considers his anticipatory bail application.

Apart from Khan Sir’s anticipatory bail plea, the court also considered applications filed by other accused connected with the incident. These included the regular bail applications of the security guards who allegedly opened fire during the attack, as well as anticipatory bail pleas filed by three other employees of the coaching institute. The court heard submissions concerning all the applications during Wednesday’s proceedings.

During the hearing, the defence maintained that Khan Sir had no direct role in the alleged firing. Advocate Murari Tiwari contended that the firing was an act carried out by the security personnel in the exercise of private defence after the coaching institute came under attack.

He further asserted that Khan Sir had fully cooperated with the investigating authorities throughout the course of the investigation. According to the defence, there is no material connecting the educator to the alleged use of firearms during the incident.

Background of the Case: The criminal case stems from an incident that occurred in early June, when a group of alleged miscreants reportedly entered or gathered outside Khan Sir’s coaching institute in Patna and vandalised the premises.

During the disturbance, security guards deployed at the institute allegedly opened fire. Following the incident, the police initiated an investigation and registered a case against those allegedly involved.

As the investigation progressed, Khan Sir approached the court seeking anticipatory bail, contending that he was not personally involved in the firing and that the actions of the security personnel were taken to protect life and property during the alleged attack.

The matter has since remained under judicial consideration, with the court granting interim protection against coercive action while hearing the bail plea.

With arguments from both sides now concluded, the Patna court has reserved its order and is expected to pronounce its decision on July 10, which will determine whether Khan Sir receives anticipatory bail in the case.
