Khan Sir is facing legal scrutiny after a violent clash outside his Patna coaching institute led to a firing case, FIR and court proceedings. Meanwhile, he is also battling a Rs.2 crore defamation suit filed by journalist Anjana Om Kashyap.
Popular educator and YouTuber Faisal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir, has found himself at the centre of multiple legal controversies following a violent incident outside his coaching institute in Patna and a separate defamation dispute involving journalist Anjana Om Kashyap.
Clash Outside Khan Global Studies Coaching Institute
The controversy began on June 2-3, 2026, when a group of unidentified persons allegedly attacked the premises of Khan Global Studies (KGS) in Patna’s Musallahpur Haat area.
According to reports, the attackers vandalised parts of the coaching institute and pelted stones at the building, creating panic among students and staff members.
During the violence, shots were reportedly fired and one of the institute’s private security guards sustained injuries. The injured guard was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police personnel quickly reached the spot, secured the area and started an investigation into the incident.
Following the attack, Khan Sir publicly alleged that rival coaching institutes were behind the violence. The incident soon triggered a war of words between coaching operators in Patna, with allegations and counter-allegations emerging from different sides.
The matter took a significant turn when a purported video surfaced on social media showing two security guards allegedly firing shots into the air. After verifying the footage, Bihar Police detained two security guards associated with Khan Global Studies for questioning.
According to a statement issued by the office of the City SP (Central), investigators obtained video footage allegedly showing two individuals engaged in aerial firing. Following verification of the video, both guards linked to the institute were taken into custody.
Police also seized the weapons allegedly used in the firing and sent them for forensic examination. A criminal case was registered at Kadamkuan Police Station and further investigation was initiated.
As the investigation progressed, another controversy emerged when Roshan Anand, who operates a separate coaching institute in Patna, denied any connection with the attack. He rejected allegations linking him to the incident and instead claimed that the firing episode was not a genuine attack but a planned publicity stunt.
According to Anand, Khan Sir had allegedly orchestrated the incident to gain public sympathy and strengthen his public image. These allegations added another layer to the ongoing investigation, compelling police to examine multiple versions of the events.
Khan Sir Named In FIR
Subsequently, investigators allegedly found evidence linking the firing incident to personnel associated with the institute. Based on the findings of the investigation and the recovery of weapons, police named Khan Sir in the case. He was booked under provisions relating to abetment along with various sections of the Arms Act.
The First Information Report registered at Kadamkuan Police Station invoked Sections 109 and 418/2026 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 25(9), 27 and 35 of the Arms Act. Khan Sir was among the three individuals named in the FIR.
Apprehending arrest, Khan Sir approached the court seeking anticipatory bail. His legal team argued that he was being falsely implicated in the case and that no direct role could be attributed to him in the alleged firing incident.
Patna Court Grants Interim Protection From Arrest
A Patna court subsequently granted interim protection from arrest to Khan Sir. The order, passed by the District Judge at Patna Civil Court, restrained the authorities from taking immediate coercive action against him while the investigation continues.
The interim relief provided temporary protection to the educator and ensured that he would not be arrested during the pendency of the proceedings before the court.
After obtaining interim protection, Khan Sir also moved the Patna High Court challenging the police action connected to the case. The High Court took up the matter and issued notices to the Bihar Government and senior police officials, seeking their response.
The High Court’s intervention has ensured judicial scrutiny of the investigation process while the criminal case remains under examination. The proceedings before the High Court are currently continuing.
Separate Defamation Case Filed By Anjana Om Kashyap
Apart from the firing case, Khan Sir has also become involved in a separate legal dispute concerning journalist Anjana Om Kashyap.
Around the same period, Anjana Om Kashyap and TV Today Network instituted a civil defamation suit before the Delhi High Court. The suit seeks damages of Rs.2 crore over alleged remarks and online campaigns that were claimed to be linked to Khan Sir and others.
The defamation proceedings are entirely separate from the Patna firing case and are being independently considered by the Delhi High Court.
Kashyap had reportedly accused some online educators of running fraud and stated that they were making comments on issues beyond their understanding.
In a video, Khan then accused Kashyap of spreading fake news and being a broker for the government.
The case comes amid allegations of widespread mismanagement of the 2026 NEET-UG and the Common University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) for admissions to undergraduate programmes in central universities. On May 12, the testing agency cancelled the examination following fresh claims of a paper leak. More than 22 lakh candidates had appeared for the test on May 3.
Current Status Of The Cases
At present, the criminal investigation relating to the coaching-centre clash and firing allegations is continuing. Khan Sir continues to enjoy interim protection from arrest, while the Patna High Court is examining his challenge to the police action. Simultaneously, the Delhi High Court is hearing the civil defamation suit filed by Anjana Om Kashyap and TV Today Network.
With criminal proceedings, High Court litigation and a high-profile defamation dispute unfolding simultaneously, the legal challenges surrounding Khan Sir remain under close public and judicial scrutiny.
