[Excise Policy CBI Case] Delhi Court Orders Medical Check-Up for BRS Leader K Kavitha at AIIMS

Today, On 18th July, BRS leader K Kavitha, aged 46, referred to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi for a medical checkup from Tihar Jail. While in custody, she developed health issues and briefly hospitalized at Deendayal Upadhyay Hospital.

New Delhi: BRS leader K Kavitha referred to AIIMS-Delhi for a medical examination by the Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday.

The court requested a detailed report from the health institute regarding her condition. Kavitha, who initially admitted to Deendayal Upadhyay Hospital in Delhi on Tuesday, was suffering from a gynecological issue and high fever while in Tihar Jail.

An official mentioned,

“She was taken to DDU Hospital due to some health issues.”

The 46-year-old leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) returned to the prison after completing necessary tests at the hospital.

To provide additional context, it noted that Kavitha’s health began to deteriorate during her time in Tihar Jail, prompting immediate medical attention. The Rouse Avenue Court’s decision to transfer her to AIIMS-Delhi highlights the seriousness of her condition.

The court emphasized the need for a comprehensive medical report from AIIMS to ensure she receives appropriate care. Following the tests at Deendayal Upadhyay Hospital, where her initial symptoms were assessed, she was sent back to Tihar Jail to await further medical evaluation at AIIMS.

Officials confirmed that K Kavitha stayed in the hospital for two hours before being sent back to Tihar Jail, where she is held in jail number 6.

Kavitha arrested on March 15 in Hyderabad following a search and interrogation by an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team in connection with a money laundering investigation related to the Delhi excise policy case.

She currently under judicial custody at Tihar Jail.

Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, arrested by the CBI on charges of criminal conspiracy and falsification of accounts. These charges fall under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Her judicial custody extended by the court until July 22.

Kavitha, facing accusations regarding her alleged pivotal involvement in the “South Group,” which is accused of channelling kickbacks totalling Rs.100 crore to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi.
