The BRS opposition party has petitioned the Supreme Court for the disqualification of ten MLAs who defected to the Congress, after the Legislative Assembly Speaker took no action for nine months on previous petitions. They reference a High Court ruling that mandated timely resolution of disqualification claims against the defectors.
The Supreme Court Today (Jan 15) dismissed BRS MLA K.T. Rama Rao’s plea to quash an FIR against him in the Formula E race funding case, involving corruption allegations over Hyderabad’s canceled 2023 event. Despite interim protection, the Telangana High Court found “prima facie evidence” for investigation, prompting Rao’s unsuccessful appeal to the apex court.
Today, On 7th January, The Telangana High Court declined to quash the FIR against BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao in connection with the Formula E race case. The FIR, filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau, alleges irregularities in the event’s organization. The court had reserved its decision on December 31 after hearing arguments from both the state government and the defence. This ruling allows the investigation to proceed further.
