Today 4th April, A metropolitan magistrate court in Mumbai directed the police to investigate social media influencer Sapna Gill’s molestation accusations against cricketer Prithvi Shaw.The investigation concluded the accusations against Shaw and others as baseless. Gill arrested along with others for allegedly attacking Shaw following a dispute over taking selfies at a suburban hotel.
Mumbai:Today 4th April,On Wednesday, a metropolitan magistrate court instructed the Mumbai police to investigate social media influencer Sapna Gill’s molestation accusations against cricketer Prithvi Shaw at an Andheri pub in 2023. Additional metropolitan magistrate SC Tayde, following Gill’s complaint, directed the police to investigate the allegation and submit a report by June 19th.
Gill filed a complaint before a magistrate court in Andheri, seeking FIR registration under IPC sections 354, 509, and 324 against Shaw and his friend Ashish Yadav for allegedly assaulting her with a bat in February last year. Initially, Gill approached the airport police station in Andheri to register a molestation case against the cricketer and his friend. However, she moved to the magistrate court after the police did not take action on her complaint.

The police informed the court earlier that CCTV footage showed Gill and Thakur intoxicated and dancing at the pub. Thakur tried to record Shaw with his phone, but the cricketer stopped him. After reviewing the footage, the police stated that Shaw and others did not molest Gill. Pub witnesses’ statements supported this, confirming no inappropriate touching happened. Moreover, CCTV footage from the Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower depicted Gill following Shaw’s car with a baseball bat and later smashing its windshield.
The police report additionally noted that they taken a statement from a CISF official, who also contradicted Gill’s account of the incident. According to the CISF official, they alerted about a disturbance in the vicinity. Upon arrival, the official observed a car with a shattered windshield, and the driver informed them about an altercation at the pub where the manager asked them to depart, prompting the driver’s desire to file an FIR, as per the report.
The official stated that he witnessed a woman holding a baseball bat, which her male companion then took from her and discarded when they noticed the police approaching. The report, citing the statement of the CISF official, clarified that none of the men present were assaulting the woman.

According to the police, the investigation prompted by Gill’s complaint concluded that the accusations against Prithvi Shaw and others baseless.
