In the 2014 Model Code Violation case, a special MP/MLA court in Sultanpur allowed Arvind Kejriwal’s passport renewal but directed him to take prior permission from the court before travelling abroad.

A special MP/MLA court in Sultanpur granted conditional approval for the passport renewal of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, stipulating that he must seek permission from the court prior to any international travel.
Special Judge Shubham Verma, On August 6, instructed Kejriwal to obtain the court’s consent before leaving the country.
Kejriwal’s lawyer, advocate Madan Singh, mentioned on Thursday that his client had submitted a request citing challenges in traveling abroad.
In response to this plea, the court permitted the renewal of Kejriwal’s passport with the stipulation that he must notify the court before undertaking any foreign trips.
Kejriwal faces a case related to alleged violations of the model code of conduct during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in the Gauriganj and Musafirkhana areas of Amethi district.

An FIR was lodged at Gauriganj police station against Arvind Kejriwal, Kumar Vishwas, and others for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct and prohibitory orders.
This stemmed from reports that they held roadside meetings without permission, obstructing traffic while campaigning during the 2014 general elections.
He is currently out on bail in this matter, which remains on hold following the Supreme Court’s directions.
