A TCS employee in Nashik has made shocking allegations of repeated sexual harassment, including physical misconduct and obscene remarks by colleagues. Police have arrested 8 accused and filed multiple FIRs, while TCS has suspended those involved and launched an internal probe.

In a serious development from Maharashtra, multiple women employees at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) have accused certain colleagues of sexual harassment and coercion, leading to police action and internal inquiry.

The case has gained significant attention after one of the victims shared detailed allegations with the police, describing repeated incidents of inappropriate behaviour, verbal abuse, and physical misconduct at the company’s Nashik office.

According to reports, the complainant had joined the Nashik unit of TCS as an associate shortly after her marriage. She stated that she was subjected to continuous harassment by colleagues during her training and later during her regular work period.

Several other women have also come forward with similar allegations, prompting the Nashik Police to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT). So far, eight individuals, including a woman operations manager, have been arrested and nine FIRs have been registered in connection with the case.

TCS has responded by stating that it follows a strict zero-tolerance policy towards any form of harassment or coercion. The company also clarified that a preliminary internal review did not find any formal complaints filed through its ethics or POSH channels. However, it has suspended the employees accused in the matter and initiated an independent investigation with the help of external agencies.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis termed the issue as deeply concerning, stating that such incidents in corporate spaces raise serious questions about workplace safety and conduct.

In her complaint to the police, the woman described how her ordeal began soon after she joined the company. She said her training started on June 24, 2025, under team leaders Shahrukh Qureshi and Jayesh Gunjal. During this period, a team lead from another department, Raza Memon, allegedly started interfering in her personal life.

She told the police that Raza would frequently approach her and say,

“Since your husband lives away, how do you manage everything? Don’t you get scared? If you ever need anything at all, please let me know, I’ll be there to help you anytime.”

Despite being newly married, she said Raza continued making personal remarks. She quoted him as saying,

“You’ve just gotten married – where did you go for your honeymoon? What did you do there?”

She further alleged that her team leader Shahrukh Qureshi encouraged such behaviour and also asked personal questions like,

“Is yours an ‘arranged marriage’ or a ‘love marriage’?”

According to her statement, Raza and Shahrukh together made her uncomfortable with repeated inappropriate remarks. She said Raza told her,

“If you don’t get along with your husband, let us know; we’ll teach you exactly what to do and how to go about it. You must have had plenty of boyfriends. How did you end up getting married after leaving them all behind? If those boyfriends are still pursuing you in the same way they used to, and your family or husband were to find out about it, what would happen? What would you do?”

The woman also stated that Raza gave her a nickname and used it regularly to mock her. She said,

“Raza had nicknamed me ‘Player.’ Whenever I came to the office, he would address me exclusively as ‘Player.’ If I encountered any difficulties with my work and mentioned them to Shahrukh, he would summon Raza. Raza would then come over and say, ‘What’s up, Player? Can’t handle the work? If you’re struggling, just let me know.'”

She added that he would also question her married life, saying,

“Why doesn’t your husband ever come here? You’re newlyweds. How can he bear to live apart from you? If I were in his shoes, I wouldn’t go anywhere without you; I would stay right by your side.”

The complaint also includes an allegation of physical misconduct during the festival of Gudi Padwa. The woman said,

“I had come wearing a saree. As I was walking through the lobby, right across the pantry, I felt someone tug at my pallu (the loose end of the saree). When I turned around, I saw that my pallu was in Raza’s hand. I immediately yanked my pallu back, whereupon he looked at me with a lewd gaze and smiled.”

While Raza Memon’s family has denied all allegations, calling them false and motivated by office politics, the police investigation is ongoing. His family has claimed that he is being targeted despite being a high performer and alleged discrimination in the handling of the case.

After completing her training, the complainant said she was assigned to a team led by Atul Pandey. During this time, another employee, Asif Ansari, allegedly began harassing her physically and verbally.

She told the police,

“During this period, Asif Ansari, an employee from another team, would repeatedly come and sit right next to me, despite there being no vacant seats, and attempt to get physically close. He would deliberately touch my body, grab my hand, and occasionally place his hand on my thigh or shoulder, causing me to feel deeply embarrassed.”

She further alleged that he made comments about her appearance and body, stating,

“You have a ‘zero figure’.”

She also described a disturbing incident, saying,

“Once, he came close to me, touched my stomach and waist, and remarked, “You have a ‘zero figure’. On another occasion, while I was standing in the gallery, Asif approached me and suddenly grabbed me in a tight embrace. I shoved him away forcefully and fled the spot.”

According to her, Asif continued making unwanted advances and inappropriate comments like,

“Do you like me? I really like you.”

The complainant stated that she initially did not report the harassment due to fear of losing her job. She said,

“I would walk away in anger without giving any reply. Since I was new to the job, and out of fear of losing it, I didn’t tell anyone about this, nor did I file any complaint.”

She also alleged repeated inappropriate behaviour during lunch breaks. She quoted him saying,

“Just as you cook for your husband, you should cook and bring food for me as well. You certainly had boyfriends before you got married, so what’s the harm in having one more? Even though you are married now, that’s fine by me. Whatever your physical needs may be, I will fulfill them.”

The harassment later extended to social media, where he tried to contact her after she blocked him. She said,

“How am I supposed to contact you?”

and added that she told him,

“Whatever you have to say, say it at the office.”

She further alleged that he made objectionable remarks about Hindu gods and later threatened her career when she objected. According to her complaint, he said,

“You want to move forward, don’t you? So, do you not like my teaching?” Saying this, he would try to get even closer.”

The case continues to be under investigation, with both police and TCS conducting parallel inquiries. The outcome is expected to have wider implications for workplace safety, corporate accountability, and enforcement of POSH laws in India.
