The victim, identified as Shikhar, had recently undergone ligament and knee surgery and was still dependent on a crutch for mobility when the assault took place.
According to the complaint lodged by the victim’s father, Mukesh Kumar Kesarwani, a resident of Sootarkhana, Makboolganj under Kaiserbagh police station, the incident unfolded after Shikhar’s friend, Soumya Singh Yadav, picked him up in a four-wheeler from Hanemann crossing and drove to the university.
As they parked the car inside the university premises, a group of students, Ayush Yadav, Jhanvi Mishra, Milay Banerjee, Vivek Singh, and Aryaman Shukla, approached and asked to “talk.” All of them entered Soumya’s car, where the situation escalated.
For nearly 45 minutes, the group allegedly hurled abuses, issued threats, and intimidated Shikhar. When he pleaded to be allowed to attend his class, Ayush Yadav and Jhanvi Mishra allegedly slapped him around 50–60 times, hurled insults at him and his family, and even threatened to kill him.
Adding to the humiliation, Vivek Singh and Milay Banerjee allegedly recorded videos of the assault, which later circulated on the college campus. The FIR also states that Ayush Yadav and Milay Banerjee snatched Shikhar’s phone, deleted chats, and damaged the device before warning him not to attend college again.
The intimidation has left Shikhar severely traumatized, his father said, adding that his son is now living in constant fear.
An FIR was registered at Chinhat police station late on Friday under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. SHO Chinhat, DS Mishra, confirmed the registration and said that further investigation is underway.
Kesarwani has demanded strict legal action against all accused students and has urged authorities to ensure that the viral video be deleted to prevent further mental harassment.
