Justice J.S. Verma Fellowship 2026: Supreme Court Lawyers Welfare Trust Honours Three Lawyers

The Supreme Court Lawyers Welfare Trust (SCLWT) has awarded the Justice J.S. Verma Fellowship to three lawyers: Archita Nigam, Surabhi Vaya, and Mallika Agarwal. The new fellows were honored at a ceremony held on March 24.

The Supreme Court Lawyers Welfare Trust (SCLWT) has awarded the Justice J.S. Verma Fellowship to three lawyers: Archita Nigam, Surabhi Vaya and Mallika Agarwal.

The new fellows were honored at a ceremony on March 24.

Announcing the selections, the Trust congratulated the recipients and said,

“They would carry forward the tradition of past recipients and contribute meaningfully to legal practice before the Supreme Court of India.”

The Trust added that the competition was fierce this year, with nearly 170 applications submitted from across the country. Following a thorough screening, shortlisted applicants were interviewed before the final choices were made.

Applications were reviewed and interviews conducted by SCLWT Chairman Justice (Retd.) Aftab Alam, Senior Advocates Chander Uday Singh, Ragenth Basant and Gopal Sankaranarayanan, and trustees Mamta Kachwaha, Vrinda Bhandari, Nikhil Singhvi, Pallav Mongia, Jaikriti Sint Jadeja and Adit Pujari, together with Sanaya Nariman.

Each fellow will receive a monthly stipend and subscriptions to Bar & Bench, SCCOnline and LiveLaw.

Established in 2008 with a significant corpus contributed by practicing Senior Advocates of the Supreme Court, the SCLWT aims to support and enhance professional opportunities and welfare initiatives for lawyers at the apex court.

Its primary purpose is to support professional opportunities and welfare programmes for advocates practising at the Supreme Court
