Ex-SC judge Markandey Katju sarcastically joked about renaming Pakistani cities, saying, “Soon, we will have breakfast in Lahore and lunch in Islamabad.” This remark came as India shot down over 50 drones in response to Pakistan’s attacks.

Former Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju posted a sarcastic remark on social media, joking about changing the names of some Pakistani cities. This happened while India gave a strong reply to Pakistan’s drone attacks by shooting down more than 50 drones.

The ongoing tension between the two nations is now evident not only in diplomatic and military arenas but also on social media platforms. In this environment, Justice Katju’s sarcastic remark on Pakistan has garnered attention.

In his Facebook post, Justice Katju wrote,

“Soon, we will have bacon and eggs for breakfast in Lahore, enjoy biryani for lunch in Islamabad, have donuts with tea in Peshawar, and relish seafood for dinner in Karachi.”

This statement was made against the backdrop of continuous provocations from Pakistan towards India.

In another post, Katju suggested renaming Pakistani cities, writing,

“We will rename Lahore as ‘Love Nagar’ , Karachi as ‘New Kashi,’ Peshawar as ‘Peshwa Nagar,’ and Quetta as ‘Krishna Nagar’.”

As a precautionary measure, the Jammu and Kashmir government ordered the closure of all schools, colleges, and universities in the Union Territory for two days starting Thursday.

Explosions and sirens were reported in areas such as Akhnoor, Samba, Baramulla, and Kupwara. The Indian Army conducted extensive aerial surveillance operations along the border with Pakistan at night.

Following the successful neutralization of Pakistan’s attempts, the Ministry of Defence affirmed that India is “fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and protect its people.”

On May 7, 2025, in retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, India launched Operation Sindoor targeting terrorist facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The operation aimed at dismantling groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, hitting sites in Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sialkot, Bhimber, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad.

Pakistan escalated tensions, On May 8, 2025, by launching a drone strike targeting 15 Indian military locations in Jammu. India responded by shooting down over 50 drones and retaliated with cross-border shelling.

The Indian Army conducted extensive aerial and ground surveillance operations. Pakistan also initiated firing along the Line of Control (LoC), which was met with strong retaliation from Indian soldiers.

To ensure public safety, the Jammu and Kashmir government closed schools and universities for two days. Reports of explosions and sirens were heard from Akhnoor, Samba, Baramulla, and Kupwara, as tensions between the two nations continued to rise.
