The Central Consumer Protection Authority has imposed the maximum first-contravention penalty of Rs 10 lakh on the e-commerce platform Xboom for listing and advertising anti-drone systems, drone jammers and GPS jammers, restricted equipment whose possession and use require government licences, without disclosing the licensing regime or the penal consequences of unauthorised use. The Authority held that concealing this attracted the misleading-advertisement and unfair-trade-practice provisions of the Consumer Protection Act, and rejected the platform’s ‘enquiry-based model’ defence.
The lawyer of the accused, Dattatray Ramdas Gade, claimed that the relationship was consensual. Gade was arrested from a paddy field in Pune’s Shirur tehsil after an extensive search operation. The operation, conducted around midnight on Thursday, involved drones and sniffer dogs. Authorities launched the search following allegations of sexual assault inside a Shivshahi bus.

Pune: Today, 28th Feb, In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old woman was allegedly raped inside a bus at Pune’s Swargate Bus Stand while waiting for transport to her hometown in Satara district. The accused, Dattatray Ramdas Gade, was arrested after an extensive 75-hour manhunt and has now been sent to 12-day police custody by Pune’s Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court.
