On Wednesday (13th March): The Supreme Court Advocates-On-Record Association (SCAORA) has officially expressed disapproval of its Secretary’s actions and decided that all future official communications will be conducted under the name of the Vice President.

NEW DELHI: On Wednesday (March 13), the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association’s (SCAORA) Executive Committee passed a resolution condemning the actions of its secretary. To maintain the integrity of its communications, the committee has designated Vice President Snehashish Mukherjee as the future point of contact for all official matters. Devvrat made a baseless allegation concerning the Election Committee’s formation for the forthcoming SCAORA elections.

The announcement follows a series of controversial statements by Devvrat across various WhatsApp groups, where he openly criticized the Executive Committee’s decisions and spread misleading information about fellow SCAORA members. Among his criticisms were a call to exclude current EC members from the election committee and a proposal to advance the election date, both of which were rejected during a committee meeting on March 11.

“The EC strongly condemns the conduct of Mr Devvrat for imputing false allegations against the entire EC and presenting false facts before the various AOR WhatsApp groups and various other WhatsApp groups of Supreme Court advocates,” the resolution said.

Despite these rejections, Devvrat continued to disseminate incorrect information, prompting the Executive Committee to issue a formal resolution rebuking his actions. The resolution highlighted the inaccuracy of his claims and his unsuccessful attempt to influence the committee’s decision regarding the election committee’s composition.

Looking ahead, the SCAORA has scheduled its 2024 executive committee and office-bearer elections for April 29, with each position holding a two-year term. The last election cycle in 2022 saw Advocate Manoj K. Mishra win the presidency with a total of 368 votes.
