Senior Advocate Vikas Singh wins SCBA President post for the fourth time. ILS Law College alumni Rahul Kaushik and Pragya Baghel elected as Vice President and Secretary.

Senior Advocate Vikas Singh has been elected as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) once again in the recently held 2025 elections.
This marks the fourth time that he will serve as SCBA President.
He had earlier held this position in 2018, 2021, and the 2022-23 term. Vikas Singh, who is also a former Additional Solicitor General, defeated his closest competitors, Senior Advocates Adish C Aggarwala and Pradeep Kumar Rai, in a tough contest.
Adish C Aggarwala, who is also a former SCBA President, has been closely connected with the International Council of Jurists and the All India Bar Association.
On the other hand, Pradeep Kumar Rai, who was previously the Vice President of SCBA, is known for his energetic participation in bar-related activities.
The 2025 elections for SCBA were conducted under the close supervision of a special Election Committee. This committee included Senior Advocates Jitendra Mohan Sharma, Vijay Hansaria, and Mahalakshmi Pavani.
As per the direction of the Supreme Court, the elections were held on May 20, and the counting of votes along with the announcement of results was completed on May 21.
The Apex Court had specifically directed earlier that
“the post of secretary of SCBA be reserved for women candidates in the 2025 elections.”
In addition to this, one-third of the seats in both the Executive Committee (3 out of 9) and the Senior Executive Members (2 out of 6) were also reserved for women candidates to ensure proper representation.
This year, Senior Advocate Rahul Kaushik has been elected as the Vice President of SCBA. Along with him, Advocate Pragya Baghel has been elected as the Honorary Secretary.
Both of them are former students of ILS Law College, Pune. Notably, Pragya Baghel has become only the fourth woman in the 75-year history of the Supreme Court Bar Association to be elected as its Secretary.
This achievement becomes even more significant as it fulfils the Supreme Court’s order to reserve the post for a woman in the 2025 elections.
The elections were held using the finalized voter list of 2024, but it was updated to include members who became eligible up to February 28, 2025.
This allowed a fair chance for all eligible members to participate in the democratic process of the bar body.
Another important aspect highlighted in this election cycle is the strong alumni presence from ILS Law College, Pune.
Not only are the newly elected Vice President Rahul Kaushik and Secretary Pragya Baghel alumni of the college, but both the Vice President Amit Sharma and Secretary Nikhil Jain of the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association (SCAORA) are also from ILS.
This year’s SCBA election results reflect both continuity and change — continuity with the re-election of experienced leader Vikas Singh, and change with the historic representation of women and the rise of young leaders from reputed institutions.
