Today, On 30th July, In the Pune Porsche crash case, the court rejected the temporary bail plea of the juvenile’s father, stating there was no merit in his claim that being the only son required him to manage his mother’s surgery.

Pune: A court on Wednesday denied a temporary bail application from the father of a juvenile driver involved in a fatal Porsche crash in May 2024, citing concerns over witness tampering and the nature of the offense.
Additional sessions judge K P Kshirsagar ruled that there were insufficient grounds for granting bail at this time.
The applicant, a builder, argued that his 79-year-old mother required urgent spine surgery and that his presence was essential both before and after the procedure.
However, the prosecution contested this claim, asserting that her condition was age-related and not life-threatening.
Special prosecutor Shishir Hiray stated,
“His father’s, sister’s, wife’s, son’s, and brother-in-law’s presence can take care of his mother,”
He further highlighted that the medical documents supporting the bail request were dated July 7, 2025, while the bail application was filed on July 8, suggesting a deliberate attempt to fabricate medical records for judicial relief. The prosecutor also expressed concerns about the risk of evidence tampering by the accused.
The court noted that other family members were available to care for the mother and that her health was not critical.
The order emphasized,
“There appears no substance in the contention of applicant that he being the only son of his mother is required to take care of her and make decision of her surgery and medical procedure,”
The juvenile, who was 17 years old at the time, was allegedly driving under the influence when he struck and killed two software professionals on a motorbike in Kalyani Nagar during the early hours of May 19, 2024.
The incident occurred in the early hours of May 19 last year when a Porsche, allegedly driven by the intoxicated teenager, struck and killed two IT professionals riding a two-wheeler in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar.
Following the incident, both parents were arrested along with hospital doctors and others for allegedly attempting to alter the juvenile’s blood samples to prove he was not intoxicated. The mother has since been released on bail, while the father, along with several others, remains in custody.
The mother is accused of swapping her blood sample with her son’s to hide his intoxication at the time of the accident.
Upon granting interim bail, the Supreme Court instructed a Pune court to establish the bail conditions. Consequently, the district and sessions court heard arguments from both sides on Friday.
