Bihar: Today (12th June): In Chapra, Bihar, a lawyer and his son were brutally gunned down by assailants while they were en route to court. The victims, identified as Ram Ayodhya Rai, 55, and his son Sunil Kumar Rai, were traveling together on a motorcycle when they were ambushed by five armed men.
The shooting occurred near the Dudhiya Bridge in the Mufassil Police Station area. As the father and son duo approached the location, the assailants, who had been lying in wait, opened fire. The attack resulted in immediate fatal injuries for both individuals.
The deceased were residents of Methavalia village and were reportedly involved in a family dispute over 4 bighas (approximately 1.6 acres) of land. Police believe this land dispute could be the motive behind the brutal attack.

Following the incident, the severely injured father and son were rushed to the Sadar Hospital. Unfortunately, they were declared dead by the attending doctors upon arrival. The legal community in Chapra reacted with shock and anger. Many lawyers ceased work in protest of the violent act, which disrupted regular court proceedings and forced many to return home.
