Patna: In a shocking incident, two people were injured on Friday in Bihar’s Gopalganj district court complex when an assailant opened fire at notorious gangster Vishal Singh Kushwaha. Kushwaha, who was being produced before a judge in connection with a murder case, was the primary target of the attack, according to police sources.
“Kushwaha sustained an injury in his left hand but a policeman, Gulab Hussain of Manjhagarh police station, was hit in the stomach,”
stated a police official. Hussain’s condition is critical, and after receiving initial treatment at the local government hospital, he was referred to Gorakhpur hospital for further care due to the severity of his injuries.
The gunman, identified as Suresh Kushwaha, carried out the attack in broad daylight within the Gopalganj court premises. Witnesses at the scene reported that 4-5 shots were fired as Vishal Singh Kushwaha was being escorted by police to the trial court, leading to the injuries of both Kushwaha and the policeman.

“The man who opened fire was caught by the people at the court complex and handed over to the police,”
a local bystander said. The quick thinking and bravery of the individuals present prevented the gunman from escaping after he opened fire.
Police investigations revealed that Suresh Kushwaha was not acting alone. According to an officer involved in the case, “Suresh, who has three accomplices, has also revealed the identity of the person who hired him for the hit.” This crucial information has led to ongoing raids in search of Suresh’s accomplices, who are believed to be hiding in nearby areas.
Vishal Singh Kushwaha is a well-known name in the criminal world of Bihar, with several criminal cases registered against him. Gopalganj SP Awadhesh Dixit confirmed the timing and details of the incident, stating that the attack occurred around 2 PM when “the notorious criminal was being escorted to the trial court in a murder case.”
Following the attack, a forensic team was immediately dispatched to the crime scene to assess the situation and gather evidence. SP Awadhesh Dixit mentioned that “the forensic team was ascertaining the exact number of shots fired by the assailants.”
Dixit added that the gunman still had two more bullets in his firearm when he was apprehended, preventing further damage from being inflicted. The swift action of the public and police undoubtedly saved lives in what could have been a far more tragic incident.
The Bihar police are continuing to raid potential hideouts of Suresh Kushwaha and his accomplices, based on the information he provided during interrogation. “We are conducting raids at the possible hideouts of the arrested person and his associates,”
