YSRCP Supporter’s Death Case: Andhra Pradesh HC Stays All Proceedings Against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for 2 Weeks

Today, On 1st July, The Andhra Pradesh High Court has stayed all investigations and legal proceedings against YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for two weeks. This is in connection with a party supporter’s death during his recent Palnadu visit.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court issued an interim order on Tuesday, staying all proceedings and investigations against YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for a period of two weeks concerning the death of a party supporter during his recent visit to Rentapalla village in Palnadu district.

Reddy visited Rentapalla, On June 18, to meet the family of a party leader who had taken his own life the previous year, allegedly due to harassment from TDP leaders and police.

During his journey to the village, C Singayya, a supporter of YSRCP, reportedly fell under the wheels of the vehicle carrying Reddy and later succumbed to his injuries.

Reddy’s counsel, Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy, stated,

“The court stayed all further proceedings and posted the case for hearing after two weeks,”

He also noted that the High Court has paused the investigation for the same duration.

Additionally, during the previous hearing The Andhra Pradesh High Court has given interim relief to former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy in connection with the death of a YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) supporter during his political rally.

While Granting order court stated,

“Despite all precautions, accidents still happened even at the Kumbh Mela.”

Earlier, YSRCP leader and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has submitted a quash petition to the Andhra Pradesh High Court regarding the case linked to the death of Singayya.

Additionally, YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP Y.V. Subba Reddy, along with former ministers Perni Nani and Vidadala Rajini, has filed their own separate quash petitions.

Y.S. Jagan, his driver Ramana Reddy, Rajya Sabha MP Y.V. Subba Reddy, and former ministers Perni Nani and Vidadala Rajini were implicated in the circumstances surrounding Singayya’s death during Jagan’s visit to Rentapalla village in Palnadu district.

When news of Singayya’s death initially broke, Guntur SP Satish Kumar indicated that an unauthorized vehicle had struck the 53-year-old man.

The vehicle, a Tata Safari with the registration AP 26 CE 0001, was confiscated. However, the SP later amended his statement, announcing that a case had been filed against the YSRCP president based on new evidence.

A video reportedly showing Singayya being struck by Y.S. Jagan’s car while he greeted a large crowd subsequently emerged. Following this, the police designated Y.S. Jagan as Accused No. 2 (A2) in the case.

The former Chief Minister criticized the TDP government for its inadequate security measures during such a prominent visit.
