Today, On 29th May, The Special Investigation Team (SIT) filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court challenging the bail granted to HD Revanna. Revanna, a prominent political figure, was granted bail in a high-profile case, prompting the SIT’s appeal. The SIT argues that the lower court erred in its decision to release Revanna.

Bengaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the sexual harassment case against Janata Dal (Secular) leader Prajwal Revanna challenged the bail granted to Prajwal’s father, HD Revanna, by a trial court. The SIT moved the Karnataka High Court seeking to overturn the bail.
The case scheduled to be heard by the High Court on May 31. HD Revanna faces two criminal cases – one involving allegations of sexual assault and the other involving allegations of kidnapping.

Earlier, on May 20, a special court in Bengaluru granted bail to HD Revanna in the sexual abuse case. The court imposed conditions, including executing a personal bond of Rs. 5 lakh with two sureties and cooperating with the investigation.
Recently, HD Revanna granted bail in a kidnapping case. In a separate development, HD Revanna filed two petitions in the Karnataka High Court, seeking to have the two first information reports (FIRs) filed against him quashed. The High Court yet to hear these petitions.

Revanna accused of being involved in the kidnapping and illegal confinement of a woman. The details of the case reveal a complex narrative involving alleged personal and political motivations. The charges were serious, and the arrest prompted widespread media coverage and public discussion.
The sexual abuse allegations against Prajwal Revanna came to light after over 2,900 videos depicting the sexual assault of several women, circulated on social media. In response, an FIR registered against both Prajwal Revanna and HD Revanna on April 28 at the Holenaraseepur town police station in Hassan district.
The FIR filed under Sections 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (insult to modesty of woman) of the Indian Penal Code.

Following a complaint filed by one of the victims, a criminal case initiated, with a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer BK Singh assigned to investigate the matter.
In the midst of the ensuing public outcry and political turmoil, it’s been reported that Prajwal Revanna allegedly departed for Germany shortly after the Lok Sabha polls in the State on April 26.
