The Trinamool Congress approached the Calcutta High Court seeking urgent hearing over allegations of coordinated attacks on political workers and opposition party offices. The party claimed attacks on MLAs and MPs, along with incidents of egg pelting. The matter was mentioned before the Acting Chief Justice.

On Monday, the Trinamool Congress approached the Calcutta High Court, alleging a “synchronised attack on political workers and taking down offices of opposition political parties”, and requested an urgent hearing. The allegations also include instances of egg pelting.
Advocate Sirsanya Bandhopadhyay brought the matter before the division bench of Acting Chief Justice (ACJ) Tapabrata Chakraborty.
The counsel submitted,
“There has been a synchronised attack on political workers and taking down offices of opposition political parties. There were attacks on two incumbent MLAs and three incumbent members of Parliament. The petition was filed on Friday. We wanted to mention it on Friday, but the bench was not sitting,”

Separately, another case involving alleged egg throwing was taken up by the ACJ on Monday. The public interest litigation (PIL) was filed by Atindra Chowdhury, founder of the Legal Rights Protection Organisation (LRPO).
The PIL seeks the court’s intervention to address recurring incidents of egg throwing, public shaming, physical restraint by mobs, and mob justice targeting public representatives and individuals in custody.
It also requests directions for the registration of FIRs, preventive guidelines, accountability for officials responsible for lapses, and protection of the dignity of all persons.
The petitioner’s counsel submitted,
“A group of people is throwing eggs at former or present public representatives. This is happening before the cops on court premises and at police stations. The police are not taking action,”
The state advocate stated that he would return with instructions. The case will be heard on Wednesday.
