Karnataka HC received sealed documents on the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede case. Advocate General assured English translation within two days.
BENGALURU: Today, on June 12, the Karnataka High Court on Thursday received all the important documents related to the tragic stampede incident that took place at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The incident, which led to the death of 11 people, is now under legal scrutiny.

During the hearing of the petition connected to this unfortunate event, the documents were officially submitted to the court.
These documents, which are written in Kannada, were presented in a sealed envelope before a Division Bench. The Bench was headed by Acting Chief Justice V Kameshwar Rao along with Justice C M Joshi.
To ensure smooth proceedings, Karnataka Advocate General Shashi Kiran Shetty appeared before the Bench and made a clear assurance to the judges.
He said,
“An English translation would be provided in two days.”
The court accepted the submission and took note of the Advocate General’s assurance regarding the translated version of the documents.
The Karnataka High Court directed that all official communications, whether offline or online, from the relevant stakeholders be placed under the custody of the Chief Secretary of Karnataka.
The matter has been scheduled for the next hearing on June 17.
The stampede occurred on June 3 during celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) historic IPL 2025 win against Punjab Kings, resulting in 11 deaths and injuries to over 50 people. The High Court took suo motu cognizance of the incident on June 5.
A notice was issued by the court to the Karnataka government, seeking an investigation into the cause of the stampede and suggestions for preventive measures.
Advocate General Shashi Kiran Shetty had requested to submit documents in a sealed envelope, citing that in a related pending bail petition, certain statements from the case were being referred to by the petitioner.
The court accepted the request, allowing the reply to be submitted in a sealed cover and instructed that the documents be safely maintained under the custody of the Registrar General.
