The Rajasthan High Court has granted Asaram Bapu interim bail for six months after reviewing his deteriorating health and medical reports. The court clarified that the relief is strictly on health grounds, not linked to his rape conviction.

Asaram, who is currently serving a life sentence in a rape case, has been granted interim bail for six months by the Rajasthan High Court due to his poor health.
The decision was made after the court carefully reviewed his medical condition and concluded that he required advanced treatment that could not be provided inside the prison.
The bail plea was heard by a Division Bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, which went through Asaram’s medical records submitted by his counsel.
The reports mentioned that his health had been declining steadily and that he needed “specialized treatment unavailable in prison facilities.”
Officials informed the court that Asaram is
“currently admitted to a private hospital, where he continues to receive medical care under supervision.”
The Bench took note of this and considered the medical documents in detail before arriving at its decision.
After evaluating all the evidence and Asaram’s current condition, the court decided to give temporary relief on health grounds. The order states that Asaram will be out on interim bail for six months to undergo treatment and recover.
The court made it clear that “the relief is strictly on medical grounds,” emphasizing that the decision was not connected to the merits of the criminal case or his conviction.
Asaram has been serving a life term after being convicted in a rape case several years ago. Since his conviction, he has filed several bail applications before different courts, but almost all of them were rejected because of the seriousness of the offense and his status as a convicted person.

However, this latest order is being seen as
“the first significant relief granted to him since his imprisonment.”
It allows him to receive necessary medical treatment outside the prison while remaining under legal supervision during the period of interim bail.
