The high court confirmed that Singh’s bail plea would be heard on Thursday by the Lucknow bench, alongside a revision plea.
Justice K S Pawar issued the interim order on Wednesday, recognizing the urgency expressed by Singh’s legal team, who stated he needed to attend a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) meeting on Thursday.
The court ruled that until the matter is addressed on Thursday,
“the accused revisionist is not required to surrender before the trial court.”
Additionally, any process issued by the trial court is to remain suspended until then, the court noted.
Singh and five others were convicted by a Sultanpur court on January 11, 2023, with their appeal dismissed by the sessions court on August 6 of this year.

State counsel in the high court argued that Singh’s revision plea was inadmissible, noting that the sessions court had ordered him to surrender to the trial court on August 9, but he failed to comply.
The high court previously heard the case on August 14.
On August 13, a non-bailable warrant was issued by the MP-MLA court in Sultanpur against Singh, Samajwadi Party leader Anoop Sanda, and four others.
Despite this, the accused did not appear before the Sultanpur court on Tuesday, prompting the court to issue an order directing the police to arrest the accused and present them by August 28. However, the written order was not immediately available.

The case dates back to June 19, 2001, when a demonstration was held in Sultanpur’s Sabzi Mandi area under the leadership of Sanda. Singh, along with former councillors Kamal Srivastava, Vijay Kumar, Santosh, and Subhash Chaudhary, participated in the protest, which was focused on the area’s power supply issues.
