The Delhi High Court, On January 9, 2025 led by Justice Jyoti Singh, questioned the maintainability of a petition by Vijay Kumar challenging the AAP’s promise of a monthly stipend for women before the assembly elections. The petitioner argued the announcement was misleading. The petitioner had also reported this to the Election Commission, seeking urgent action.
Today, On 11th November, the Delhi High Court authorized Delhi University to count DUSU votes, contingent upon the university’s agreement to a student-led campus cleaning initiative. The court’s decision follows concerns over significant property defacement during elections. Counting will resume on or before November 26 once necessary clean-up validations are confirmed.
Today (3rd June): Two BJP candidates, Pranat Tudu and Rekha Patra, along with party workers, approached the Calcutta High Court to address alleged false police complaints hindering their participation in vote counting for the Lok Sabha election. The court scheduled a hearing and also received petitions from BJP workers identifying themselves as party counting agents. The BJP has requested re-elections in 412 polling booths, alleging widespread election malpractices, and criticized the ruling Trinamool Congress for favoring tactics that led to clashes and injuries.
