Delhi High Court held YouTuber guilty of criminal contempt over videos targeting judiciary. Court found content aimed to erode public trust and initiated suo motu action against channel “Fight 4 Judicial Reforms” for scandalising judges.
A Varanasi court took cognisance of a complaint seeking criminal action against Prof Madhu Kishwar over alleged defamatory social media posts targeting political leaders. The plea urges directions to police for registration of an FIR in the matter.
The Delhi High Court said that public figures must be ready to face criticism, satire, and public comments unless it is humiliating or defamatory. The Court also warned that personality rights cases cannot be used to seek blanket removal of news reports and online content.
