Today, On 12th March, The Supreme Court of India has granted bail to Shabir Ahmed Shah, leader of the Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, in a terror-funding case. He faces UAPA charges for allegedly conspiring to separate Jammu and Kashmir from India and country.
The Supreme Court questioned the NIA for relying on speeches from the 1990s while opposing Shabir Ahmed Shah’s bail in a terror funding case. The Bench asked how decades-old material recovered in 2019 could justify his continued detention of over six years.
Today, On 24th September, The Supreme Court directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to provide detailed information regarding the custody of Kashmiri separatist leader Shabir Ahmed Shah. The order comes as Shah faces charges in 24 pending terror funding cases.
