Karnataka High Court indicated it would pass orders on Ranveer Singh’s plea to quash the FIR after examining his apology affidavit, while accepting his undertaking to visit the Chamundi Hill deity in the Kantara mimicry row.
Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh offered an unconditional apology before Karnataka High Court over his remarks portrayal of deity Chamundi Devi in Kantara, with Senior Advocate Sajan Poovayya stating he will file an affidavit and visit Chamundi temple in Mysore.
The Karnataka High Court has extended interim protection to actor Ranveer Singh in the Kantara mimicry case till March 9. The FIR was filed after he referred to the “Chavunda” deity as a “ghost”, allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
Today, On 24th February The Karnataka High Court rebuked Ranveer Singh for his Kantara deity remarks at IFFI, stressing “superstar not above law” and noting community offence. It noted his apology but questioned recklessness while granting interim relief after hearing submissions.
Bollywood star Ranveer Singh has approached the Karnataka High Court seeking cancellation of an FIR filed over his “female ghost” remark during praise of Kantara at IFFI. He argues the comment was taken out of context and made without any intention to hurt religious sentiments.
